Description "Düsseldorf is very pretty..." said the favorite son of this city, the poet Heinrich Heine. Nowadays this phrase has more sense than ever. Düsseldorf is interesting for everyone and always has something to offer: art, culture, modern commercial centers and, specially to enjoy, the Carnival and the Amusement park (Die Kirmes). The school of music Robert Schumann, as well as the famous Superior School of Fine Arts attract many students worldwide. The Institute is near the University. In order to go to the downtown and the central station there are direct street cars.
Lodging The Institute offers: single or shared apartments and, in exceptional cases, family houses. These houses are, at the most, 45 minutes away by public transport from the school.
Academics The method is intercultural and communicative and involves grammar structures and the new tendencies in the language teaching considering the objectives and interests of the students. There are different courses such as 9 weeks, 3 weeks, summer, TestDaF and individual classes. The intensive course of 9 weeks is basically for students who love to remain one season in Germany and/or want to study in one of the German universities. The course of 3 weeks is destined to people who love to learn German or to improve it in short time and small groups. The TestDaF course prepares the students for the official exams of German like foreign language.
Activities With a glass of Altbier (typical beer of Düsseldorf) in the stroll of the Rhine or the diverse coffees, one can relax after a long day of study. Also the environs of Düsseldorf are interesting: the castle of Benrath, the old ruin of emperor Barbarrossa , in Kaiserswerth; the fortress of the Middle Age in Zons; Neanderthal and many more. Colony with their famous cathedral and Wuppertal with their unique hanging railroad in Europe are only 30 minutes by car. Also from there is possible to travel easily to the Netherlands or Belgium, and visit for example Amsterdam or Brussels.
