Visa  
  Visa request : If you are from the European Union or one under an agreement with Germany (Honduras, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, USA) then you do not need a visa. All other countries need a visa in order to visit Germany. You must apply for one in either the German embassy or consulate in your country. All citizens of the EU must apply at the foreign office (Ausländerbehörde). You must bring your identity card or passport and your proof of residence, 4 identity photographs and a certificate from the employer. The German residence permit is valid for 5 years, however in some cases the validity of the permit is in relation to the length of the contract of employment.

Types de Visa: there are different types of visa. A tourist visa for example cannot be transformed into a student visa. And as tourist it is forbidden to study in Germany. For foreign students and candidates to a study vacancy there are three types of visa:
* a visa for German courses, which cannot turn into a student visa afterwards;
* a visa for applicants to a studies vacancy, valid before the university confirmation of the admission. Once the approval from the educative establishment is received the student must go immediately to the Foreign Office (Ausländeramt) to ask for the corresponding student visa;
* the student visa, valid for a year. In order to receive it, is required the admission of the corresponding German university and a certificate that clarifies that the financing of the studies is guaranteed.

Documents needed when applying for a student visa:
* 2 print outs of the application
* 2 identity photographs
* a valid passport
* letter of acceptance from a German university or;
*German course application
* certificate that proves you have completed high school education;
* last report card;
* visa fee ;
The visa must be required in the German embassy or German consulate in the origin country, with the longer possible advance. German representations in the outside will inform you on the concrete requirements.
