Crime
in Germany: violent crimes in Germany are
rare, although they may happen, specially in the
big cities’ high risk zones, such as train
stations. Most of the incidents related to street
crime consist of robberies of small neglected objects
and pilfering.
Some advice: Travellers
who wish to have a stay without problems, should
follow few basic rules:
* the best way to deal with money is traveller checks,
and to change them according to one’s need;
* as far as possible, leave the value objects (jewellery
shop, traveller checks, credit cards, airplane ticket,
etc) in a hotel safe-deposit box. It is also possible
to find companies that offer a service of safe-deposit
boxes in the Yellow Pages.
* Do not leave luggage in a car without watching.
* Hire a travel insurance in order to cover the
expenses of any eventual loss or robbery.
* In case of emergency, it is possible to call from
any telephone box to the police. The free number
is the 110.
